What is the W40 specification for the 2Voice 2 wire digital door entry system?

This article is a resource for clients, consultants and specialist installers when specifying a 2 wire digital door entry system. The specification below is based on the 2Voice system which has been developed for small, medium and high volume residential applications where a digital door entry solution is required.

System

The systems main purpose is to allow audio and video communication between visitors to the development and the residents or the concierge. This system design has been based around Secured by Design certified Urmet 2Voice 2 wire system products.

The video door entry system shall be a 2-wire system. Entry panels and video monitors shall be connected using a single twisted pair cable. Systems that rely on additional cables for power shall not be acceptable. The system shall be capable of supporting up to 4064 users. The system apartment stations shall be isolated with circuit protection.

Digital entry panels shall be capable of being programmed via a PC or tablet using Bluetooth data transfer, allowing remote configuration. A back up of the configuration shall be available.

Call forwarding to mobile app

Users (residents) will be able to make use of a call forwarding to a mobile app service using a multiuser call forwarding device connected to the building internet either via ethernet or Wi-Fi. The multiuser call forwarding device shall be centrally managed so that the building manager can add/delete users. Systems that allow the user (resident) to manage their own connection shall not be acceptable. The call forwarding app shall be free to download (available for iOS and Android devices). 

IP integration

The 2 wire system shall be capable of being fully integrated with an IP system for multi panel or multi block systems with a switchboard. By means of a gateway the integrated system shall offer IP digital entry panels whilst maintaining a 2 wire riser and 2 wire video monitors. It shall be possible to mix 2 wire and IP risers in the same installation. For integrated systems requiring a Concierge the system switchboard shall be PC based with a dedicated USB handset.  

Access control integration

The system shall be fully integrated with the access control system by means of a hardware interface allowing all events to be managed on a single platform (compatible system IPassan). All door entry and access control events shall be logged and be displayed or accessible via the access control system. The door entry system shall also be capable of lift management with destination for visitors by using the apartment video monitor lock release button.    

Elekta Steel video entrance panel

The entrance panel shall be ref 1083/12 Urmet Elekta Steel 2Voice 2 wire stainless steel digital video panel with illuminated keypad and programmable buttons for Trades and Concierge. The panel shall have a 3.5” colour display with user instructions and block name. The panel shall have voice announcements for “call in progress”, “please speak” and “door open”. The panel shall be secured with security fixings. The panel shall have a wide-angle camera lens and LED camera illumination. The panel shall include an integral proximity reader and coded access keypad. The panel shall be 2 wire. Panel to PSU 100M no local power required. The panel shall be capable of direct dial calling and block selection, prefix dialling codes will not be acceptable. The panel shall be IP45 and IK09 rated.

Miro video handset monitor

The video monitor handset shall be ref 1750/1 Urmet Miro 2Voice 2 wire video monitor. The video monitor shall be manufactured from ABS plastic and finished in gloss white. The video monitor shall have a 4.3” 16:9 colour display. The video monitor shall have a clearly marked 17mm lock release button and 3 additional auxiliary buttons. The video monitor shall have an LED to indicate the following: main and secondary door open and mute. The video monitor shall have programmable ring tones and adjustable call tone volume. The video monitor shall be fitted with an induction loop as standard. Desk mount kits shall be available. The handset shall have dip switch programming. The video monitor shall have a doorbell input. 

Miro video handsfree monitor

The video handsfree monitor shall be ref 1750/16 Urmet Miro 2Voice 2 wire video handsfree monitor. The video handsfree monitor shall be manufactured from ABS plastic and finished in gloss white or gloss black. The video handsfree monitor shall have a 4.3” 16:9 colour display. The video handsfree monitor shall have a clearly marked 17mm lock release button and 3 additional auxiliary buttons. The video handsfree monitor shall have an LED to indicate the following; main and secondary door open and mute. The video handsfree monitor shall have programmable customised ring tones and adjustable call tone volume. The video handsfree monitor shall be fitted with an induction loop as standard. Desk mount and flush kits shall be available. The video handsfree monitor shall have a door bell input. The video handsfree unit shall have dip switch programming. It shall be possible to have intercom calls between units. When surface mounted the touchscreen shall not protrude more than 23mm and must fit a standard one gang electrical box. When mounted using an optional flush kit the maximum protrusion shall be 9mm.
